Joining forces to benefit from synergies

Dieser Artikel in Deutsch

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and Deutsche Welle have signed a co-operation agreement aimed at boosting existing collaboration and extending it to further fields. The goal of the agreement is to improve the interchange of information and, by mutually taking advantage of networks, to raise the effectiveness of German mediating organisations abroad and jointly impart a modern image of Germany world-wide.

In addition to joint events at home and abroad, the Humboldt Fellows in Germany are to gain access to the expertise of Deutsche Welle. In return, the Humboldtians are to be available to the overseas radio broadcasting service as interviewees and academic experts. When they return to their home countries, they can then add to variety in the network of programme producers.

"We aim to focus our forces and mutually supplement them where our competencies, fields of activity and target groups touch one another, for instance in informing academics about the good conditions Germany offers international research or in cultural dialogue," Dr. Georg Schütte, Secretary General of the Humboldt Foundation, comments on the signing of the co-operation agreement with Deutsche Welle.

Apart from the Humboldt Foundation, the Goethe Institute has also signed a co-operation agreement with Deutsche Welle. The two institutions wish to attain more effective publicity by combining resources, experience and know-how and by sharing the respective structures.
